The Events and Meeting Planner will plan and execute successful, dynamic events for Wall Street Journal subscribers and Dow Jones clients and prospects. An important element of the role is a strong brand sensibility and the recognition that all aspects of event production must reflect our brand identity and positioning. We are looking for the ideal candidate who is hyper creative, entrepreneurial, enthusiastic, and not afraid to get his/her hands dirty. You are also obsessed with detail, exceptionally organized, able to manage a budget and stick to deadlines. As the Events and Meeting Planner, you will be working closely with the marketing team to produce events that deliver on marketing strategies and support business opportunities. Your role will interact with executives from editorial, product, sales and marketing. Events range from breakfast panels, cocktail receptions, and social events. You will also be responsible for managing our sponsorships and presence at trade shows. There is significant opportunity to grow and expand the role. The position will require a minimum of 3 years of events planning experience. A Bachelor's degree is required. Some travel required. Responsibilities: -
Develop detailed project plans for each event in collaboration with entire team -
Find interesting venues and negotiate contracts -
Manage event logistics (invites, RSVPs, speakers, attendees, customer service, event production, catering, audio visual, design, materials, etc.) -
Manage timelines; ensure milestones are met on time/budget by all team members -
Ensure that all aspects of each event reflect the WSJ and Dow Jones brands -
Develop the event concept in collaboration with your marketing colleagues -
Solicit and manage third-party vendors as needed (e.g., suppliers) -
Maintain, track and communicate budgets for all events -
Review all contracts and vet with Legal Department -
