Finance Pros Confident This Quarter

By julie steinberg

Even though finance and accounting workers are less optimistic about the economy than they were last quarter, they're still confident about their job situations, according to a new survey conducted by the Mergis Group.

The Accounting and Finance Employee Confidence Index, which measures workplace confidence among accounting and finance employees, increased 0.6 points to 53.9 in Q3 2010. The number represents the highest level of confidence indicated since 2007.

According to the index, only 23% of respondents said the economy is getting stronger, a 10% drop from Q2 2010. But, 73% said they're confident in the future of their current employer, up 11% from last quarter. They're also more confident in their ability to find a new job -- 44% responded they would be able to find new work if pressed, compared with 36% last quarter.

According to another survey from last week, financial advisors are also at a high point. J.D. Power and Associates found that FAs are more satisfied in their jobs now than any time in the past three years.
